“He is one of the best competitors that this game has ever seen or witness,” said Machado. “So we lose a legend and he leaves on top of it. It is great to be able to wear the same uniform as he, playing behind him and to see him firsthand how he continues his business. I think that was pretty cool to look and witness the same field. Machado is 10-out-38 against Kershaw with two home runs, as the third Honkman noted. Kershaw has hit him eight times in those 38 starting.
In that postsean of 2018 the two superstars shared as teammates, Machado Save .227/.278/.394 with a .672 Ops.
Machado flourished in his role in the Padres as a clubhouse leader, and it seems that he has nothing but respect for the Dodgers legend.
