Zirkzee has struggled to take on a regular role at Manchester United this season, having made more than £200m of investment in the club’s striker last summer.
The arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have limited Zirkzee to just 340 minutes of Premier League football.
Reports in Italy claim that AS Roma have rejected a loan offer. Corriere dello Sport report that Roma have seen a loan bid to bring Zirkzee back to Serie A rejected.
Manchester United are unwilling to accept loan offers next month Subway have said permanent proposals will be considered. United are unwilling to let the Netherlands international leave without receiving money to reinvest.
Ruben Amorim’s attacking options will be exhausted later this month when Mbeumo and Amad Diallo leave for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Roma is not the only club interested in Zirkzee. Interest has been credited to several Premier League teams, including Everton and West Ham.
