Manchester United have been knocked out of the FA Cup and with only the Premier League to play in the remaining months of this season, they will look to secure European football to attract top players for the 2026/2027 season.
Amid all the chaos, there are suggestions that Bruno Fernandes could also be considering leaving Old Trafford due to the on and off-pitch issues surrounding the club, which could see the Red Devils consider spending big on a replacement.

Football Transfers reported this that Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer to replace Fernandes, with the Blues willing to discuss a transfer depending on the fee they might receive.
Palmer has been plagued by injuries this season but remains one of the Premier League’s best players. Having proven himself at both Chelsea and Manchester City, it is no surprise that Manchester United are eyeing a move for him.
A United move is not a strong possibility
Although Chelsea have made a number of big signings in recent months, Cole Palmer remains the player the team is built around. With the quality he has, Liam Rosenior is likely to make the England international an essential part of his line-up as well.
That said, Manchester United would have to pay a lot of money for his signing. Palmer is valued at £105 million on Transfermarkt and whether they are willing to spend that much money on other parts of the squad that need to be rebuilt is questionable.
Cole Palmer’s association with Manchester City, a direct rival of Manchester United, could be an additional deterrent for him to move to Old Trafford, while if there was any truth to Chelsea being willing to sell him, they would rather do so than to a foreign side.
It will be interesting to see who United turn to if they do indeed need to replace Fernandes this summer, but all things considered, it’s safe to rule out a jump for Palmer.
