Former defender Paul Parker has urged Manchester United to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher.
It is an open secret that the Red Devils will prioritize revamping their midfield next year, having strengthened the front line during the last transfer window.
Ruben Amorim reportedly wanted a new midfielder last summer, and Carlos Baleba was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. However, Brighton and Hove Albion ultimately refused to let him leave.
The Red Devils even tried to sign Gallagher on loan during the last few days of the summer window. But Los Rojiblancos did not approve of the move.
In recent weeks, Man Utd have been linked with a host of midfield options, including Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Angelo Stiller. Baleba is reportedly still on their wish list.
However, op UtdDistrictParker claims Man Utd should sign Gallagher because he has the right mentality to thrive at the highest level and is in excellent fitness. The former Chelsea star would therefore be an ideal option for United.

Parker said:
“Conor is the one. He’s the only player, I think.”[Man Utd] need. One player who plays a lot of football, doesn’t get injured often and is willing to play. I’ve seen him many times when he was at Palace and when he was at Chelsea, and every time you see him grin, the boy wants to play a game of football.
“If he doesn’t play, that’s a good reason. Even if he’s had a blow, he wants to play football. And I know if he comes to Manchester United that would be the icing on the cake.”
Since moving to the Spanish capital last season, Gallagher has played as a rotation option under Diego Simeone. So speculations about his future have arisen in recent months.
He is estimated to be worth around £35 million Transfer market and has four years left on his current contract. Therefore, Los Rojiblancos are in a strong position to demand a big fee if United or another club make a move for him.
Gallagher is an energetic midfielder and can play efficiently anywhere in the middle of the park. So he would be the right choice to play in Ruben Amorim’s system.
However, it will be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club will ultimately make a concrete move to secure his services in January or next summer.
