Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are vying for the signature of prolific Palmeiras striker Vitor Roque, according to Mundo Deportivo as relayed by GOAL.
Roque returned to his home country in February after a disappointing spell in Europe. After joining Barcelona last year amid much excitement, he quickly fell out of favor and was given few opportunities under his former head coach, Xavi Hernandez.
The 20-year-old has rediscovered his form since permanently returning to his home country to join Palmeiras in February this year and was part of the Verdão team that reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
This season he has been in goalscoring form for Abel Ferreira’s side, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in all competitions, putting him firmly on the radar of several top European clubs, especially in the Premier League.
Quote Sports world, GOAL reports that Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Roque ahead of a possible move to England in 2026.
However, United are ready to get an edge on their rivals as the report claims the Red Devils are on the verge of making a formal £44million offer to Palmeiras for the prolific striker.
The Spanish club added that Man United’s proposed bid could provide a financial injection for the Brazilian team, which is facing financial constraints, while Barcelona could also receive an £8 million windfall from the deal.
Productive progress
Manchester United secured the signing of Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig this summer, but the Slovenian striker has scored just two goals in 11 games since arriving at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee has endured a frustrating campaign, featuring sparingly under Amorim after falling out of favour. This situation has led to him wanting to leave in January to play regular football in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup.
Despite Vitor Roque’s disappointing spell at Barcelona, where he scored just two goals in 16 appearances, United’s interest appears unchanged.
The Brazilian’s time at Camp Nou was short-lived, lasting eight months before being loaned out to Real Betis and later moving permanently to Palmeiras.
Although he is still only 20 years old and has plenty of room to develop, questions remain over whether Roque – who struggled during his first European spell – can withstand the intense expectations at a club like United and make an immediate scoring impact, rather than the club opting for a more experienced centre-forward.
