Man Utd are competing with Liverpool and Chelsea to sign El Mala

Manchester United are reportedly fighting with Chelsea and Liverpool over a deal to sign FC Koln star Said El Mala, according to the Spanish newspaper Transfers.

After playing for several clubs during his youth career, the 19-year-old joined Köln last year. However, he only moved to the RheinEnergieStadion last summer and has since made a good start to this season.

The German was a rotation option and has made just two appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season; yet he has scored four goals and registered a solitary assist.

Now, Transfers states that the youngster’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed as he has attracted the attention of several major English clubs ahead of the winter window.

Liverpool are interested in signing him and have intensified their scrutiny ahead of making a potential move. The Reds are convinced that El Mala has the potential to become a top player in the future.

On the other hand, Chelsea have acquired very talented young players since acquiring Todd Boehly and have now identified El Mala as a new serious target.

Conflict

Man Utd, meanwhile, do not want to miss an opportunity to sign a talented player like the Cologne star and are ‘seriously’ considering making a move.

The player has five years left on his contract and the German side value him at around £35 million. But they could raise their asking price due to growing interest.

El Mala is 1.80 meters tall, technically sound, left forward. He is quick and efficient in finishing his chances; furthermore, he can provide assists to fellow attackers.

After Luis Diaz left last summer, Liverpool did not buy a new left winger and appear to want to do so next year. On the other hand, Chelsea strengthened their flanks by signing Estevao Willian, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens in the last transfer window.

However, it seems like they don’t want to miss the opportunity to sign a talented player like El Mala, so they are ready to add more depth in the wider area. Man Utd, meanwhile, signed Matheus Cunha last summer, but let Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho leave.

So they will need to add depth in the wings if they are to qualify for European football next season, and El Mala could be a smart signing to back Cunha if they were to sign him.
