Manchester United are reportedly battling Arsenal and Liverpool for the signing of AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi, according to reports TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils currently have Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee as centre-forwards, while Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha can provide cover in this position if necessary.
While Sesko has yet to show consistency, he has shown glimpses of his great potential this season. However, Zirkzee continues to struggle in the Premier League.
The Dutchman was strongly linked with a move away in the winter window, but United ultimately decided not to weaken the squad midway through the season. However, he may be allowed to leave in the summer if his performances do not improve in the coming months.
Now, TEAMtalk report that Man Utd are planning to sign a new striker and have identified Kroupi as a serious target. They closely monitored his development before making a potential dive.
The Frenchman has had a productive campaign so far this season, and United aren’t the only club interested in him, with Arsenal and Liverpool also in the race. Like the 20-time English champion, the Gunners and the Merseyside club have also closely monitored his development.
The report states that Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City are also planning a move for him as they are impressed by his recent standout performances. However, Paris Saint-Germain is showing the most concrete interest in securing his service.
Conflict
After moving to Vitality Stadium last summer, Kroupi still has a contract until 2030, and Bournemouth have no plans to part ways with him. They are even preparing to give him another term to fend off potential suitors, but are prepared to accept £80 million if they are ultimately forced to cash in on him.
Liverpool decided to renew the centre-forward position last summer by purchasing Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak. However, Isak has struggled so far this season, with injury problems one of the main reasons.
Ekitike has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League this season. However, Arne Slot seems to be planning to deepen this position further.
Arsenal, on the other hand, bought Viktor Gyokeres last year, but he has struggled to consistently produce his best performances this season.
Kroupi is a very talented player and could be a smart signing for Arsenal, Man Utd or Liverpool, should any of those clubs ultimately manage to sign him.
