Mainoo, on the other hand, struggled to find regular playing time under former manager Ruben Amorim. However, his situation is expected to improve under interim boss Michael Carrick. But he is still only 20 and his playing time needs to be carefully managed to help him reach his full potential.
It has been extensively documented that Man Utd are considering overhauling their midfield department next year and this has been linked with a plethora of names.
Now, Caught offside claim United have identified Anderson as a serious option after being impressed by his recent standout performances in the Premier League.
Man Utd are already working hard behind the scenes to position themselves as favorites in this race. In addition to the twenty-time English champion, Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in him.
Conflict
The Citizens have been in touch about the deal, while the player may be in favor of a move to the Etihad Stadium. However, Man Utd and Chelsea have not given up hope of securing his services.
Bayern Munich are currently outsiders in this race and would be prepared to take a concrete approach if Nottingham Forest are in favor of selling the 23-year-old abroad.
With the Englishman’s existing deal running until 2029, the Reds are in a strong position to demand a big fee for him and have put a price tag of a whopping £100 million on his head.
It will be interesting to see where Anderson ultimately goes when he leaves the City Ground at the end of this campaign.
