Manchester United has announced the signing of Paraguay 18-year-old defender Diego Leon.
The Red Devils announced the signing on Saturday in a statement.
“Manchester United is pleased to announce the signing of the exciting young defender Diego León, subject to registration,” United said.
“The Paraguay Youth International has joined Cerro Porteño in his home country.
“The talented full-back has already played 33 senior games and scored 4 goals for his club.
“Leon reached the age of 18 in April and if an emerging talent will be supported by our first team and the academy while setting up in life in Manchester.
“León is left-feet and works as a left side. As a youth player, he joined the Academy of Cerro Porteño on level under 14.”
León started his senior career with them. He is described as “one of the great promises of Paraguayan football”.
He received interest from clubs in the English Premier League and 2 August 2024, he debuted for the club during a 1-0 win over Sportivo Ameliano, and he was the goal scorer. He made a total of 33 senior competitions and scored four goals for the club.

It was announced on January 11, 2025 about his move to Man United after completing his medical, but both clubs agreed that he would participate in the summer window.

Meanwhile, Man United Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha of Wolverhampton has drawn Wanderers.
There are also reports that people such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony can leave this summer.
The trio of Rashford, Sancho and Antony all went on loan last season, but it is believed that they no longer have a future at the club.
United will not be in Europe next season after he finished disappointing 15th in the Premier League.
Despite their disappointment in the competition, they went all the way to the Europa League final to lose 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
