Man injured in southern Colorado police chase, shooting

A 43-year-old man was injured Wednesday while fleeing police in southern Colorado, according to state investigators.

Walsenburg police officers and Huerfano County sheriff’s deputies found the man, who was wanted in Crowley County on a domestic violence warrant, at a truck stop in Walsenburg on Wednesday shortly after 3 p.m., according to a news release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Crowley County detectives had issued a “be on the lookout” alert for the man earlier that day, warning that he was believed to be armed and dangerous, the release said.

The man drove away from the TA Express Travel Center truck stop when Walsenburg officers and Huerfano County deputies attempted to arrest him, investigators said in the news release. A Walsenburg officer shot the man, who has not been publicly identified, during the incident.
