Man City and Tottenham have worked closely together on the pitch in recent seasons, and they will also do so on the transfer front in 2026. Both clubs want to add defensive reinforcements to their squad and have set their sights on a specific target: Ezri Konsa.
Konsa has been a very consistent performer at Aston Villa and at the age of 28, he is in the prime of his career. He has made his way to England in recent years, and this has sparked interest in his services.
Ezri Konsa is attracting interest from Man City and Tottenham
According to TBR FootballGraeme Bailey has confirmed that Man City and Tottenham want to sign Konsa, and while Aston Villa have no plans to sell, they will have to consider a move if he does not sign a new contract before next summer.
“Ezri Konsa’s name comes up quite often when talking to clubs about possible defensive options. Obviously Villa don’t want to sell, but he still has just over two years left on his contract. He is now one of the best defenders in England and Villa will probably have to tie him down to a new contract.”
“Konsa is a nailed Premier League performer who is now showing at international level. It is no shock to me that some very big clubs are keeping an eye on him.”
Konsa was on Liverpool’s list this summer, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he moved on in 2026, especially if he decides not to sign a new contract with Aston Villa. For Man City or Tottenham, he would be a fantastic addition to their first-team squad, but for now it remains to be seen whether either club will make a move in the coming months.
