Malick Thiaw is on his way to Newcastle United and briefly spoke about his upcoming move to St James’ Park.

With a deal of £ 34 million agreed-£ 30 million plus add-on-us and the player wants to sign a four-year deal once his medical is completed on Monday, the 24-year-old was filmed on LACE AIRPORT prior to his flight to Tyneside.

The German international was stopped by Sky Italy and discussed his decision to become a member of Newcastle and his time at AC Milan:

Thiaw said: “Newcastle? Yes, I am very happy, but it was a pleasure (in Milan). I am ready for the Premier League”.

“These three years have been a pleasure. I have learned a lot. I have grown as a football player but also as a person. I wish them the very best, for all people with whom I have spent time here – the players, the staff, the media and the doctors.

“My best memory? Tough, but I think our Champions League campaign will reach the semi -final.”

Thiaw was not involved for Milan today, because she lost 4-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, instead back to Italy to pack his bags prior to a Sunday evening flight to Tyneside.

Speaking earlier today against Sky Italy, Milan -Baas Max Allegri discussed his exit and gave his disappointment about seeing the 6ft 4 ″ defender:

“Thiaw? It is a pity that he has been omitted. It’s a shame he is leaving,” said Allegri after failing to keep him in the Siro despite his efforts.

“The club is working on finding a replacement, that is the transfer market that you must accept and continue to work.

“In the team I have excellent players who have made themselves available for each other.”
