The house in South Yarra, where Australian filmmaker couple Nadia Tass and David Parker created the gadgets for their cult film Malcolm, was sold for three million dollars on Saturday.

The residence also served as a production office for Malcolm and various creative projects.
Other films from Parker and Tass include Amy with Rachel Griffiths and The Big Steal with Ben Mendelsohn, Claudia Karvan and Steve Bisley, plus the television series Stark, based on a bestselling novel by comedian Ben Elton.
Parker and Tass moved from the four-bedroom house at 14 Lang St a few years ago and put the house on the market in November.
Marshall White’s Richard Mackinnon declined to comment on the sale price posted on realestate.com.au over the weekend.
He said the buyer planned to renovate the home, which features an indoor pool, brick fireplaces and a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom.
The house received an offer of $2.91 million and was subsequently sold.

Victoria recorded a preliminary approval rate of 64.2 per cent this week based on 769 early results.
According to PropTrack, 750 homes in the state will go under the hammer next week.
Ray White Victoria chief auctioneer Luke Banitsiotis said the agency’s 306 proprietary auctions this week recorded a preliminary clearance rate of 71.2 per cent, about 10 per cent higher compared to the same period in 2025.
Mr Banitsiotis said some people who had already sold their homes and were keen to buy a new home before Christmas could see the clearance rate slightly higher next week.
Filmmakers Nadia Tass and David Parker raised their sons in the South Yarra home, and Tass’ mother lived there until last year.
Ray White Victoria head auctioneer Luke Banitsiotis says there are still plenty of buyers remaining active in the market as Christmas approaches.
As for 2026, he said the Victorian government’s proposal to require a property’s reserve price to be published at least seven days before an auction could lead to an adjustment period as the industry figured out how it would work.
But after this, Mr Banitsiotis said the auction market should return to normal.
The government plans to present the legislation to parliament next year, after a period of consultation with stakeholders.
However, Mr Banitsiotis pointed out that this would not stop some properties from selling well above reserve if there was demand from buyers.
“For example, last week Ray White CRE declared a reserve of $850,000 for a property that sold for just over $1 million,” he said.
The two-bedroom apartment at 2 Laurens St, West Melbourne, changed hands for $1.02 million and was listed by agency director Toby Campbell.
57 Tiverton Drive, Mulgrave, has set a new house price record of $2.666 million for its suburb.
A standout result this Saturday was a house that fetched a new record price of $2.666 million for Mulgrave, in Melbourne’s south-east.
The French Provincial-style home at 57 Tiverton Drive was advertised in a range of $2 million-$2.2 million, in a campaign overseen by Ray White Judd White Group director Ryan Zhu.
Mulgrave’s previous house price benchmark of $2,602 was set in November at 614 Springvale Rd.
Mr Zhu said that of the four bidders, the five-bedroom house on Tiverton Drive was bought by a family who planned for three generations to live there, from grandchildren to grandparents.
“During the campaign there were many buyers coming to this type of house (French Provincial) from Keysborough, Rowville as well as local Mulgrave families looking to upgrade,” he said.
His colleagues Dexter Prack and Jourdain Creigh acted as dual auctioneers.
Several buyers vied to secure 32 Browning Ave, Clayton South, at a ‘crazy’ Saturday auction.
Also in Melbourne’s south-east, a trio of two-bedroom apartments at 32 Browning Ave, Clayton South, exceeded expectations when they sold for $1.522 million.
George Midas of McGrath said the second bid of $1.27 million was already above the $1.175 million reserve, prompting him to list the 878-square-foot address on the market.
“This is an amazing price,” Midas said.
“I’m thrilled for my seller, but concerned about other young buyers in the market.”
About seven bidders took part in the auction, including three online buyers, with more registered potential bidders ultimately not raising their hands.
Mr Midas said it was mainly investors, with a Springvale businessman getting the keys.
11 Mayfield Grove, Altona Meadows, attracted six bidders.
In the city’s western suburbs, a four-bedroom townhouse at 11 Mayfield Grove, Altona Meadows, fetched $770,000.
Ray White director Anthony Anile said the reserve was $650,000, topping the range of $600,000-$650,000.
From six bidders, a family with young children emerged as the new owners of the home.
Mr Anile said 80 groups had inspected the property, attracted by the price, the relatively new construction, the 338 square meter block and the lack of corporate fees.
