The passenger, identified as Ankit Dewan, said the incident took place when he was traveling with his family, including a four-month-old baby in a stroller. Dewan alleged that airport staff guided his family to use the staff and PRM security checkpoint because of the child.
According to Dewan, some staff members started cutting the line in front of him. When he objected, he alleged that a pilot, identified as Captain Virender, who was also using the same entrance, questioned his literacy and asked if he could not read the signs indicating that the entrance was for staff.
“The staff were queuing in front of me. When I called them, Captain Virender, who himself was doing the same, asked if I was anpadh (uneducated) and could not read the boards that said this message was for staff,” Dewan said in a detailed post on X.
The altercation between the passenger and the pilot quickly escalated into a verbal altercation. Dewan further alleged that the pilot then physically assaulted him, leaving him injured and bleeding.
āUnable to exercise restraint, the AIX [Air India Express] The pilot proceeded to physically attack me, leaving me bloody. The blood in the photo on his shirt is also mine,ā Dewan said in another post revealing the pilot’s face.
Additionally, the flyer stated that the incident ruined his family vacation and left his daughter traumatized after witnessing the attack.
