BMW bikes will become more expensive: Motorrad India confirms price increase from January 1, 2026; Details inside

BMW Motorrad India has announced a price hike across its motorcycle portfolio, with price hikes of up to 6 percent coming into effect from January 1, 2026. The German auto giant’s two-wheeler division said the move is prompted by ongoing currency pressure and rising input costs. The decision will affect both locally manufactured models and fully imported premium motorcycles sold in the Indian market.

The depreciation of the rupee causes price increases

Hardeep Singh Brar, president and CEO of BMW Group India, explained the rationale behind the increase and pointed out the long-standing weakness of the Indian rupee against major global currencies.

“Exchange rate pressure due to the sharp depreciation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar and the euro has not abated for several months,” Brar said in a statement. He added that higher costs of raw materials and logistics have put further pressure on margins.According to the company, the planned review is aimed at balancing rising costs while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its operations in India.

Company focuses on profitability and dealer value

Brar said the upcoming price adjustment is necessary to maintain profitability and support BMW Motorrad’s broader ecosystem in the country.

“The planned price increase will ensure the necessary profitability and continued value creation for both the company and our dealer partners,” he noted. Industry experts say such moves are becoming increasingly common among premium car brands as global supply chains remain volatile and currency fluctuations continue to impact imports.

Models involved: from made-in-India to imported bicycles

BMW Motorrad India’s product offering includes a mix of locally assembled motorcycles and imported premium models. The ‘Made in India’ range includes popular offerings such as the BMW G 310 RR and the electric BMW CE 02, both of which have helped strengthen the brand in the premium premium segment.

At the higher end, the company’s imported portfolio includes adventure and touring motorcycles such as the BMW F 900 GS, BMW F 900 GSA, BMW R 1300 GS, BMW C 400 GT and the electric BMW CE 04.

While BMW hasn’t announced any model-wise price revisions yet, buyers can expect different increases depending on the motorcycle and its level of localization.

Current prices and impact on the buyer

According to BMW Motorrad India’s official website, the company’s motorcycles are currently priced between Rs 2.81 lakh and Rs 48.63 lakh, depending on the model and variant.

With the revised prices coming into effect in early 2026, potential buyers may want to consider bringing forward their purchase to avoid the increase. It is also expected that dealers will witness increased demand in the last months of 2025.
