India leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has finally responded to the explosive allegations of cheating by his ex-wife and popular choreographer Dhanashree verma. The controversy took center stage following a recent episode of the reality show Rise and fallwhere Dhanashree claimed that she ‘captured’ Chahal cheats just two months after their wedding. Her statement immediately went viral and sparked widespread debate on social media platforms.
The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, reportedly began living separately in 2022 before officially finalizing their divorce in March 2025. According to reports, the Bombay High Court waived the mandatory cooling-off period and concluded the proceedings quickly, with Dhanashree receiving around ₹4.75 crore as maintenance.
Yuzvendra Chahal reacts sharply to Dhanashree Verma’s cheating allegations
In an exclusive interview with HT CityChahal firmly denied all allegations of cheating and expressed disappointment at the way personal matters are being dragged into the public domain. Chahal emphasized that he had always remained faithful throughout the marriage and urged everyone to put the controversy behind them.
“I’m an athlete and I don’t cheat. If someone cheats within two months, how can a relationship last four and a half years? For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I’ve moved on and everyone should do the same. Chahal said.
The leg-spinner also questioned the timing of Dhanashree’s claims, suggesting that the comments may have been intended to attract attention. “Our marriage lasted 4.5 years. If I had really cheated early on, why would I continue with it for so long? I’ve said before that I’ve moved on, but some people are still stuck there. Even today, some people run their homes under my name, and that’s fine. I am not concerned or affected,” the Indian cricketer added.
Chahal made it clear that he has no intention of revisiting this part of his life. He emphasized emotional closure and reiterated: “Main chapter ko bhula chuka hun. Anyone can say anything and it will spread on social media. There are hundreds of conversations, but the truth remains only one, and those who matter know it. For me, that chapter is closed forever.”

Chahal shifts focus to cricket and mental wellbeing
Chahal’s response reflects his determination to keep his focus on cricket and personal growth rather than getting involved in controversies. The 34-year-old stressed that such rumors distract from the hard work and discipline required at the highest level of the sport. “I’m concentrating on my life and my game. That’s the most important thing for me right now,” he concluded.
