Madueke urges Arsenal fans to get excited about trophy hunting

Noni Madueke has said Arsenal fans have ‘every right to’ be excited about where the club’s season is going.

Arsenal easily reached the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners made easy work of the League One strugglers, with all four goals coming within the opening 27 minutes. Madueke scored the opening goal of the blitz, with Gabriel Martinelli, a Jack Hunt own goal, and Gabriel Jesus completing the rout.

Arsenal’s win keeps the north Londoners in contention for all four trophies this season, with Mikel Arteta’s team also topping the Premier League, reaching the Carabao Cup final and safely reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

Madueke was pleased with a professional performance from Arsenal against Wigan and thinks there is reason to be excited about what is to come.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “Very satisfied. We were very professional and had the right intention. Four goals and a clean sheet. As you said, it can be difficult if you don’t apply well, but that wasn’t the case for us today, so we are very happy.”

“I thank God for the goal and the victory. That’s my job: to try to help the team. If we win it’s much better than if we draw, like the other day.”

Asked whether Arsenal fans should be excited about the build-in, he added: “I think they have every right to be. We are working hard to deliver what should be with our performances at the moment. That is our main focus and I think it is exciting, but we have to keep doing the right things every day.”
