A rising star from the South Australian construction industry has been named the best in the country.
Luke Callery of Stepney-based Callery Building was crowned Australian Young Builder of the Year at the Master Builders Association 2025 National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.

Will Frogley, CEO of Master Builders SA, said he was pleased to see the qualified carpenter he described as “the definition of a master builder” being recognized on the national stage.
“His attention to detail, professionalism, customer service and of course high-quality construction work have received rave reviews from customers,” he said.

It’s the third year in a row that a South Australian has taken home the coveted top gong, cementing South Australia’s reputation for producing great young talent.

“We punch above our weight in the building and construction industry, and we have an amazing stable of current and emerging builders to continue these achievements,” he said.
“Given the growth in the sector and the current skills shortage, we are continually working to encourage and support newcomers to the sector through apprenticeships.
“Completing an internship is an achievement and prepares you for a wonderful, well-paying and rewarding career.

Two other South Australian builders took home prizes at the national awards on Friday evening.
Bellevue Building Concepts was top of the show in the National Renovations/Extensions Award category of $1 million to $2 million, and Crew Built in the $750,000 to $1 million category of the same award.
