Adnan Virk: “Last thought to get here real quick, Dave. The Kings can’t win at home right now. They’ve lost (four) in a row (7-10-7). Is there a coaching change coming, regarding Jim Hiller?”

Dave Pagnotta: “Still not. Still the idea from Los Angeles. And the rumor out there is that they are not considering a coaching change at this time.” The focus for LA and GM Ken Holland is on find some violation. That’s what they’re looking for. They are looking for goals. It’s been a big struggle for them all year. This year they’re 29th, 30th, whatever they are now in the NHL, in goals per game.

They’re trying to find more of it. Now it was nice to get a point (Wednesday and Friday) against Vegas and tie that game late before losing an OT. But this is a team that wants to improve its position in the standings. As it shows there, connected to San Jose (Seattle and Anaheim). Back to the (Utah) Mammoth for a few points.

They still feel like they are a legitimate playoff contender, but Ken Holland is more focused on finding additional scoring opportunities for this roster than making a coaching change at this point. They go into a big slump and start losing 10 in a row. We’re talking about something else.

But right now the focus is on adding some offense to this group, not making a coaching change. That is now the focus for Ken Holland.”

NHL rumors: Jim Hiller safe in Los Angeles for now

They have one puck-moving defenseman on this team, Brandt Clarke. Drew Doughty throws a great stretch pass. He’s not a puck mover anymore. (Mikey) Anderson doesn’t. Not (Cody) Ceci, not (Brian) Dumoulin, and not Joel Edmundson. That’s why they can’t get any traction offensively. And you can’t move any of these players.”

NHL Rumors.com Note: The Kings of Los Angeles have been looking for a fourth since the offseason. They tried to get Mitch Marner and Brock Boeser. Additionally, the Kings will need depth at center given the retirement of Anze Kopitar at the end of the season. So GM Ken Holland has a lot of work to do.
