Not long ago we told you that KTM was about to get the wraps of his new flagship with double sports. That is exactly what happened. The 690 Enduro R has recently received a remarkable update – the largest – that brings a whole series of modern bits to the package. These also extend to the 690 SMC R, which serves as the flagship Supermoto from KTM. With the updates, the KTMs want to put their dual-sport rivals on notification.

The last update for the 690 Enduro and SMC came a long time ago. So they started to show their age against modern rivals. Accordingly, the design and functions get both changes for 2026. The plastic body has become sharper everywhere and the tank fungi now extend to the front fork. A further look also reveals a new LED headlight, new hand protectors and updated fork protectors. Finally, a new Livrei – with white and orange tones – increases the Oomph.

Regarding functions, the 690S borrow a page from the book of the 390 Line -up. That means that the old LCD instrument cluster is making the road for a fresh TFT. It is full of rhythmodi, curves and bend stream control. The last two are made possible via a new 6D sensor. New SwitchGear and a USB Type-C port the Ante further. All these updates are also present on the SMC R, except the Livrei. The Supermoto has its own new blue and orange colorway.

KTMs 693cc Meschinder engine has always been one of the most advanced modern mills of its kind. But in 2024 the 659cc engine of Ducati spoiled the party by promising more power. It was only honest KTM answered back and 2026 brings exactly that. KTM has thrown a revised carter, coupling and stator cover, garnished by a redesigned oil system. It is said that they improve reliability and improve performance. The output of 78 hp and 54 pound-foot backs that claim, because the first is higher than the previous gene model. It is also 0.5 more than the 659cc mill from Ducati.

In the meantime, not much has changed in the substantiation department. KTM in particular claims that the suspension has decreased. As a refresher course, both 690s have a tubular trellical mass, hung on fleshy WP Xplor Forks and a WP Xplor Monoshock (WP Apex on the SMC). The Enduro has a wheel combination of 21/18-inch, while the SMC 17-inch bends hoops. Both roads around 330 pound Mark without fuel and small increase compared to the 2024 models.
