London | Ross Hutchins to take over as ITF CEO

The International Tennis Federation has appointed the British former player Ross Hutchins, who is currently the most important sports officer of ATP, as his new Chief Executive Officer.

It is an honor to get to the ITF at such a crucial time for the sport, and I am very happy that I take on the role. After a pleasant and satisfying 11 years at the ATP for which I am very grateful, the time is suitable for a new challenge. The width of the work that the ITF undertakes is inspiring, with its constant goal of putting the sport to all levels of the game and I am extremely excited and energetic for the challenge that occurs. A former Olympian, Davis Cup player and tournament director, Hutchins has held various positions on the ATP tour on the ATP tour in the last 11 years and will bring the ITF enormous knowledge and experience.

He will take over from Kelly Fairweather at the end of October, who announced earlier this year that he would go to the ITF after 9 years.

The 40-year-old Hutchins has a proven state of leadership, with strong international relations, which, according to the ITF Council, made him the striking candidate to lead the administrative body to the next chapter after a thorough and competitive recruitment process.

As CEO, Hutchins will supervise the strategic direction, activities and worldwide development work of the ITF, which leads the continuous growth of the world cup of the tennis event Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, as well as the ITF’s management of tennis and wheelchair tennis on the Olympic and Paralympics and the qualifying.

“We are pleased to welcome Ross as the new CEO of the ITF,” said ITF president David Haggerty. “If the long -standing worldwide guardian of the game, the ITF has a unique responsibility to protect tennis worldwide and grow tennis at every level.

“In recent years, the ITF has built up a strong momentum in important areas, from digital innovation and the restructuring of our tours to the introduction of a balanced agenda and the continuous growth of wheelchair tennis.

“Ross brings leadership, vision and experience to the ITF that will help us deliver our mission for players, fans and countries around the world.

“I want to thank Kelly Fairweather for his nine years of service and for his help with the transition process.”

Hutchins will also supervise the ITF tours, including Juniors, World Tennis Tour, Masters, Beach and Wheelchair, who are vital for the Player Pathway and those who play communities, and are an important focus for participation.

He will stimulate the continuous development of tennis worldwide and the delivery of the ITF’s long-term vision, together with the administration, 213-member national associations, the International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee and the broader international tennis community.
