Liverpool star Isak undergoes surgery on a broken leg

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has undergone surgery on his ankle after the club confirmed he had a broken leg.

The Sweden international was forced off the pitch after scoring the opening goal after the Reds’ victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Isak was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Micky van de Ven when he got his shot and immediately grabbed his leg. The 26-year-old required on-field treatment before being replaced by Jeremy Frimpong.

Hugo Ekitike doubled Liverpool’s lead soon afterwards, before Richarlison added on late on, but the Merseyside team held on for a 2-1 away win.
