Liverpool confirms the departure of the talented midfielder as a new contract is announced

Talented midfielder James McConnell has signed a new five -year contract in Liverpool and is almost in the rest of the rest of the campaign, according to James Pearce of athletics (via the Dutch giants Ajax. X).

The 20-year-old, who made his senior Reds debut during a Europa League collision with Toulouse in Anfield in November 2023, will experience his trade under former Liverpool coach Johnny Heitinga in the Netherlands.

The former Everton defender left the Premier League champions in the summer after a season with the side of Arne Slot when he was offered the Ajax lane.

Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros joined the Amsterdam-based outfit of the Reds earlier in the summer and now McConnell is ready to follow in the same direction.

The talent born in Morpheth was part of the Liverpool side that Chelsea defeated in Wembley to win the League Cup during the last season of Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside and made a total of 13 performances for the club.

Klopp labeled McConnell as a ‘Joy to Watch’ earlier, but our No. 53 made only four senior performances in the previous period under lock (in all competitions).

He will learn a lot from playing in the Eredivisie for one of the largest clubs in Europe and also in the Champions League.
