Liverpool are ‘seriously considering’ signing Luis Suarez from Sporting CP, according to the Spanish newspaper Transfers.
After selling Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, the Portuguese giants decided to strengthen the centre-forward position last summer by signing the 28-year-old.

The Colombian moved to the Jose Alvalade Stadium last season after a stellar campaign for Almeria in La Liga 2, scoring 39 goals in all competitions.
This season he has continued to show his productivity, scoring 27 goals and registering five assists in 33 appearances across all tournaments. In addition, he helped Sporting win the Liga Portugal title, four points behind table toppers FC Porto.
The South American even guided his team automatically to the round of 16 of the Champions League by finishing in the top eight.
Now, Transfers states that Liverpool are considering signing a new, productive striker this summer and have identified Suarez as a serious option after being impressed with his recent standout performances.
After joining the Lions last summer, Suarez still has a contract until 2030 and a £52million release clause. The Reds are even ‘confident’ that they can convince him to join.
Suarez to Liverpool
Following the sale of Darwin Núñez last summer, Liverpool decided to renew their number 9 position by signing Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, with the Sweden international currently the British record signing.
Although the Frenchman has already shown glimpses of his qualities this season, Isak has struggled to find his way in his new environment, with fitness issues one of the main reasons.
So ideally, if Isak can regain his form, Liverpool will no longer need to invest in adding further depth at centre-forward.
Nevertheless, Suarez is currently in the prime of his career and has shown his talent as a goalscorer. He is 1.80 meters tall, is fast, strong, has the poacher’s instincts in the box and is efficient in finishing his chances.
So he could be a smart signing for Liverpool if they were to buy him. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club will ultimately take a concrete approach to securing his services this off-season.
