Liverpool are eyeing a move for Antoine Semenyo in January

According to iNewsLiverpool have joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.

The Merseyside giants strengthened their attack during the summer transfer window with the signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, but there could be another addition to the squad next year.

Mohamed Salah’s form has been quite disappointing during the early part of the campaign, and iNews claims that the Reds have identified Semenyo as a candidate to challenge the Egyptian for the right-wing position.

Arne Slot’s team is now considering whether they want to make a winter approach or not. Semenyo signed a new contract earlier this summer, but he has a release clause worth £75 million that can be activated in January.

Premier League proven

Semenyo had an impressive 2024/25 season with the Cherries, scoring 20 goals in all competitions. He has started the current season much better with nine goals from as many games. The Ghanaian is experiencing the best phase of his career.

The Reds could look to sign him in January as he will not be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. Although Salah will be away at the tournament with Egypt, Semenyo will not be involved as Ghana failed to qualify. This could pave the way for a midseason deal.

Semenyo, described as ‘world classJustin Kluivert would be a fantastic signing for the Reds as he is in the prime of his career. The 25-year-old can operate comfortably from the left or right wing. Apart from his goal involvement, he has averaged 2.3 successful dribbles per match in addition to 7 duels and 5 recoveries.

Salah has made a brilliant contribution for the Anfield giants but his reluctance to return has been exploited by the opposition sides this season. In Semenyo, the Reds would have a right winger who is effective up front but can also support his defense.

Bournemouth have shown that they are willing to sell their valuable assets for the right price. Liverpool could secure Semenyo’s services in January if the South Coast side are willing to negotiate a long-term payment plan rather than triggering the buyout clause.
