Liverpool are competing with Chelsea and Man Utd to sign Mykhavko

Liverpool are reportedly fighting with Chelsea and Manchester United over a deal to sign Dynamo Kiev star Taras Mykhavko, according to transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

Since moving to the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium a few years ago, the defender has developed into an integral part of the Blue and White starting XI, helping his side win the Ukrainian Premier League last season.

On TBR Football, Bailey says that after showing eye-catching performances in recent times, the 20-year-old has started to attract a lot of attention, with English and German clubs showing the most interest.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd are planning to sign a new defender next year and have been keeping a close eye on Mykhavko’s development before making a potential move.

In addition to the trio, Newcastle United, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are also following his progress intensively.

The youngster is valued at around £6 million Transfer market and has a contract with Dynamo Kiev until 2028. So from a financial point of view, purchasing him should not be a problem for Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool.

Conflict

The Reds have struggled with defensive weaknesses so far this season and have been linked with a number of centre-back signings in recent times.

The Merseyside club bought Giovanni Leoni this summer after letting Jarell Quansah leave. However, he has suffered a serious knee injury, while Ibrahima Konate has shown inconsistent performances so far this season.

On the other hand, Chelsea also want a new defender next year because they have numerous injury problems at the back. Man Utd have found it difficult to keep a clean sheet so far this season, and with Harry Maguire’s current contract expiring next year, signing a new defender to replace him would be the right decision.

However, Mykhavko is still very young and needs time to develop his career. The Ukrainian would not get time at big clubs such as Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool and would immediately have to perform at the highest level if he joined one of those clubs. So they would be better off looking for more experienced players to strengthen the defense.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club, the West London club or the Old Trafford club will ultimately make a concrete approach to sign Mykhavko next year.
