Paris – Alexandra Eala believes that after her impressive run in Miami she can move to the next level this year, because she will be the first woman from the Philippines who participates in a Grand Slam at the French Open.
The 20-year-old opens her French Open campaign against another Grand Slam-Debutant, Emiliana Arango of Colombia, in the opening round on the red clay of Roland Garros on Sunday.
“Being the first is a big problem because it gives other people the courage to do the same and follow the same path,” Eala told journalists.

Manila, Philippines – Alex Eala makes her Grand Slam Women’s Singles Main Draw debut against Emiliana Arango in Colombia in the first round of the French Open from 2025 on Sunday afternoon (Time).
Eala, who is 20 on Friday, was signed in section 2 of the bracket and will compete against the world no. 88, a triple ITF champion. Arango, 24, reached a career-high WTA ranking of No. 79.
Eala is on a collision course with its 2023 Asian Games semi -finals Tellingor, Qinwen Zheng of China. When she progresses, she is confronted with the winner of the match between Zheng and the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
