For more than thirty years, attorney Lisa A. Parlagreco has built a career characterized by in-depth investigative work, constitutional advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to fairness in the legal system. Her journey has included appellate litigation, post-conviction work, complex civil cases and significant forensic analysis. Yet the common thread in every chapter of her career is the belief that answers exist beyond the assumptions others accept. “You never have to think outside the box again once you realize there is no box,” she says.
Parlagreco’s approach has shaped a number of cases over the years, and it is her work on behalf of individuals whose cases seemed out of reach that reflects her approach. One such case involved a man who was spending money 26 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of murder, a conviction was later overturned.
Her forensic perseverance has also led to results that achieved national attention. In 2019, Parlagreco served as co-counsel in a two-month civil trial that concluded with a A $36.5 million judgment for three familiesa case that focused on the discovery and interpretation of surveillance footage, GPS data and telematics from large vehicles. She led the effort to reconstruct the original bus recording system and identify anomalies in the footage through frame-by-frame analysis and spectral frequency assessment, details that ultimately led to a jury instruction on liability awareness.
These results reflect a legal career that started early and ambitiously. A 1989 graduate, Parlagreco entered her first federal profession shortly after being admitted to the bar and later established her own practice in her hometown of North Reading. After a period focused on raising her family, she returned fully to practice in 2012 and continued to develop a reputation for detailed case building, collaborative strategy and a willingness to engage deeply with complex cases.
Her dedication has received meaningful recognition, including a mention of her name Trial Attorney of the Year 2024 (Massachusetts). She views each award not as a milestone, but as recognition of the many individuals whose lives intersected with her work. “The only limitations you will ever face are the limitations you place on your own thinking,” she says.
Outside of the courtroom, Parlagreco remains involved in legal and community settings. She also supports efforts to ensure a safe environment for children in the entertainment industry. Professionally, she maintains active professional and consulting practices Parlagreco Law, LLC.
While she now lives in Miami, she continues her practice in Massachusetts, combining litigation with creative pursuits in photography and filmmaking. She is currently developing two documentaries, one of which is related to the exoneration case that attracted national attention, a project she sees as an extension of her commitment to telling stories that might otherwise go unheard.
In every chapter of her career, Parlagreco’s work reflects a simple philosophy: the path to justice begins with refusing to accept the boundaries placed around a case, a client or an idea. Her work continues to demonstrate what becomes possible when these boundaries are lifted.
