India and the US are natural partners, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday in response to the reconciling position of President Donald Trump in which he described the Indian leader as a “dear friend” and indicated a new momentum in stalled commercial interviews.
“India and the US are good friends and natural partners,” wrote Premier Modi on X. “I am convinced that our trade negotiations will pave the way to unlock the unlimited potential of India-US partnership. Our teams work to conclude these discussions at the earliest.”
The comments came hours after Trump, in a social post of the truth, said that trade negotiations went on with India and expressed optimism about a final breakthrough.
“I am convinced that it will not be a problem to come to a successful conclusion for both our great countries!” He wrote and added that he expected to speak with PM modes in the coming weeks.
Following the sentiment, the prime minister said that he also looked out to talk to Trump soon. “We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both people,” he added.
The exchange between the two leaders comes across Washington’s punitive rates of 50 percent on New Delhi about the import of Russian oil disruptions. A crucial bilateral trade agreement is also in balance: while the US wants wider access to the agricultural and dairy markets, but India has drawn red lines.
