Liberal Member of Parliament Julian Lezener has “unconditionally apologized” to Indian Australians about comments from Liberal Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, who have been described by a Labor MP as “frankly disgusting”.
Leeser, that opposition spokesperson for legal affairs, apologized for some “infringement” caused by Price’s comments last week when she claimed that the federal government had a “focus” on bringing in migrants “from certain countries about others”, before she fell apart the Indian community.
Shortly after the interview with the ABC, Price clarified her comments, but her first suggestion that Indian migration is being unnecessarily favored Drawn division.
Leeser acknowledged that Price had fallen her comments about migration, but said he felt he had to speak while he spoke a crowd at a Hindi school in NSW in the weekend.

“My colleague Jacinta Price said this week something that I want to apologize for uncertain,” he said.

“Let me say very clearly, the contribution of Indian Australians to this country is fantastic. The Indian community is fantastic. And you know what? India, just like Australia, is a democracy,” said Lezer.

“There are Indians who vote, there are Indians who vote liberally, there are Indians who vote greens. I don’t care how you vote. I care about the contribution that you make to this country, and I know it is a fantastic contribution, and I want you to keep making it.”

Price unfortunate, has not heard from Sussan Ley

Leeser also spoke about the position of opposition leader Sussan Ley about Price’s statement.
“As my leader Sussan Ley said, she was wrong to say it, and she ran those comments and I am glad she did,” he said.

In an interview with Sky News on Monday evening, Price said she regrets her comments.

“The regret I have is that I was not clearer in terms of my comments about the ABC … and have since made a clarification,” said Price.
She said she didn’t hear anything from Ley about her comments about Indian migration.
‘I didn’t have a conversation with the leader [Sussan Ley] Specifically about that problem, “said Price.
“I think I would expect that I would hear directly from the leader himself if it was of great concern; it didn’t seem to be a great concern.”
“The comments were wrong, not correct. They should not have taken place,” she said.

“They will not be repeated. What I then said and what I say now is to express my deep appreciation to the Indian community for everything they have brought to Australia for everything they continue to bring, for their representation in every forum of society.”

Price must apologize, says PM

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for a price to apologize for her comments and “the pain that has been caused”.

“The comments are not true that the senator has made, and of course she has to apologize for the pain caused, and her own colleagues say that. But more importantly, leaders in the community also ask for that,” Albanian ABC Radio said on Tuesday morning.
“It is important to make my position clear, namely that the Indian Australian community has made our country stronger. They contribute to our economy, our communities.
“They are an essential part of modern Australia, and I just say to the Indian community, you are appreciated.”
