With less than three weeks until we start our Premier League campaign, it is exactly who we can expect in the opening weekend against Aston Villa is still in the air.
The future of Alexander Isak remains uncertain, Joelinton still has to go back to fitness at the first team level, and Howe can actively act with how he manages Sven Botman for the rest of our friendly competitions.
But Lewis Hall is an important player to think about. We have not seen the entire back since February when he sustained a seasonal injury against Liverpool.
And now the manager has given us a crucial update about whether we can expect Hall to appear in our upcoming pre-season matches, after he was admitted to the team for the tour through Asia, but should not play a minutes.
In a new interview released by the club, Eddie Howe said that it is unlikely that we will see Hall playing a lot or not at all for the Magpies during the preseason.
Howe does not want the 20-year-old back of an injury and seems to be waiting for Hall to get back into full fitness before he starts again on the left but the positive news is that he is trained with the group on Saturday and “positive”, albeit the small, steps.
“Yes, I think he’s still a way of playing time,” said Howe NUFC TV.
“I think the first step for him is to train with us regularly, but he did that yesterday (Saturday) for the first time, as I said, in the group.”
“So, little one steps for him, but certainly positive.”
So, some encouragement that he is getting closer, but it is a pity that he apparently will miss much, if not all, of the preseason, which means that we may not see him in the opening weeks of 2025/26.
As good as Tino Livramento, deputation is instead of his countryman, it is not to deny how much we missed as an option.
But because Livramento itself still needs time to rest and restore it after he had spent the U-21s of England the start of the summer, how maybe how to be creative with his options for the upcoming matches against the K-League XI, Spurs, Espanyol and Athletico Madrid.
Younger Alex Murphy started against Arsenal, and destroyed his own goal in a different solid performance of the 21-year-old.
Matt Targett, however, was walked by Arsenal -Teen Max Dowman on Sunday by Arsenal -Teenager, who probably did not give much confidence to start the Englishman further.
