Lerone Murphy heard a suggestion to let Aljamain Sterling and Diego Lopes fight in a title -eliminator and he will have nothing of it.
Murphy believes that he has earned the right to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Murphy delivered a spectacular rotating elbow knockout in August in his fight with Aaron Pico. Volkanovski was impressed by the outing of Murphy and agreed that the two had to meet the 145 pound gold at stake.
In the meantime, Sterling has an idea for a no. 1 candidate against Lopes. Murphy is not at all a fan of that idea, and he does not even believe that “funkmaster” should be in the title photo of 145 pounds.

Murphy also thinks it might be too early for Lopes to get another title fight against Volkanovski.

Murphy has defeated Josh Emmett, Dan Ige and Edson Barboza. “The Miracle” believes that the momentum is by his side and he hopes to get a title soon. Volkanovski has said that his next opponent remains in the air.
There is also Movsar Evloev, who, according to many, must be the no. 1 competition, but he recovers from an injury. What the UFC matchmakers ultimately decide to do is a story to watch in the coming weeks.
Volkanovski is in his second reign as the UFC champion of the Vederweight. He conquered the gold a second time by beating Lopes via a unanimous decision in April. The title was abandoned by Ilia Topuria.
