It’s been a breakout year for the former stars of British girl group Little Mix. Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock launch their solo careers with their debut studio albums. Thirlwall and Edwards released their respective first albums last month, and Pinnock isn’t far behind with hers My ego told me to do that coming early next year.

Leigh-Anne previewed her upcoming LP in July with the single ‘Been a Minute’. She followed it up the next month with “Burning Up,” and now she’s back with “Dead and Gone,” the latest installment of her first full-length project.

“The funny thing is / You’re not someone until someone kills you / A murder scene leaves her dead and gone,” she sings on the track. “Raise your hand to the sky / Baby, you know time keeps passing by / No more, behave better, throw the dirt on the grave / No, she can’t be saved.”

After announcing herself as a solo artist in 2023, Leigh-Anne jumped straight into album release mode, releasing the singles ‘Don’t Say Love’ and ‘My Love’. However, she chose to pivot, instead opting to release her debut solo EP No hard feelings last May. “I thought I was going to release three singles and drop them straight away,” she said Dork last year. “However, as the process went on, I felt like I wasn’t ready for the album yet.”

“I think I’ve been trying for so long to find my sound and something that suits me, just something unique to me, and I really feel like I finally found that, and it was just the best feeling to write that song in that moment,” she says. said of the song prior to its release. “All that frustration kind of comes through in this song, and it’s about killing this version of me that I don’t feel like serves me in this industry anymore.”

With ‘Dead and Gone’, Leigh-Anne once again demonstrates her ability to stand on her own as an artist and performer. Now that she has full control over her creative output, the album will reflect that power.

The album is released and Leigh-Anne trusts herself and doesn’t let outside concerns control the release. “I definitely feel like it’s there, and I’m glad it’s finally coming out. However, the pressure has been lifted a little bit now and I feel a lot more comfortable with it,” she said. Dork. “This record is me peeling back some of those layers and just being open about my story. It’s scary, but I hope that allows people to get into my world more.”

“It’s so exciting to be at the beginning of something new,” she said.

My ego told me to do that is scheduled for release on February 20th.
