Leicester City should consider the January-loan output for 21-year-old Star News: The72-Football League News

Leicester City will assess a potential output of January for Ben Nelson this winter, according to Graeme Bailey.

Leicester City did not see too much activity in the summer transfer window.

As always is the case with relegated clubs, LCFC has said goodbye to some remarkable assets. Leave for Bilal El Khannouss” Mads Hermansen And Kasey Mcateer paved the way for new faces to come in.

However, a man who was sitting was Ben Nelson. The young middle behind is seen as a big prospect and he has already proven his championship quality in a successful loan with Oxford United.

The 21-year-old has not made one championship performance for Leicester City this season this season, and that has questioned his future.

Now, Reporting for EFL analysisGraeme Bailey claims that LCFC will assess Nelson’s situation prior to a possible loan movement when the winter transfer window comes.

The Foxes retain a desire to keep Nelson, but if he doesn’t get the opportunities that his skills deserve, he may go out for the second half of the 2025/26 campaign. If that is the case, the young central defender will not have too little admirers to close a deal.

Competition for places in Leicester City

Leicester City may not have the power they have had in earlier campaigns. One area that they are well filled with players is, however, center-back.

It gives Marti Cifuentes a number of welcome selection headache, but it also means that a top year like Nelson will find a meaningful minutes that is very difficult to come by.

Jannik Vestergaard has been a mainstay in the early stages of the season and Wout Faes wants to move Caleb Okoli from the starting line -up. Nelson is therefore positioned as a fourth choice, but with the comeback from Harry Souttar approaches, he will be the fifth.

There is a case for Nelson who gets more opportunities, since he has a much higher ceiling than that for him. However, it seems that Cifuentes prefer the more proven players.

Ben Nelson needs championship play time

Nelson has played 10 first team matches for Leicester City. He also got minutes in spells at Rochdale and Doncaster Rovers.

However, it was a stint with Oxford United last season that announced his breakthrough on the senior stage.

Injury disrupted his involvement, but if available, Nelson looked like a center-back to become a real strength at this level.

LCFC may want him at their disposal, but Nelson has to play football regularly for his development. He has shown that he can do this to great success in the championship, but the only way he will do that is if a loan is punished.
