LeBron James gets brutally honest about Lakers’ Christmas game: ‘I’d rather be at home’

If LeBron James had his way, he’d be planted on his couch this Christmas.

The Lakers star opened up this weekend about the fact that he would be playing again on December 25, telling a group of reporters that he would prefer to be with loved ones at his mansion this holiday.

“I would much rather be at home with my family,” the 40-year-old admitted.

James has been in the league since 2003 and has made 19 Christmas appearances during his NBA tenure. Thursday’s home game against the Rockets will be the 20th time he has played on Santa’s big day.

However, James did say that while the comfort of his mansion sounds more appealing than the hardwood of the Crypto.com Arena, he still considers it a privilege.

“It’s the game – it’s the game I love,” James said. “It’s the game I watched on Christmas Day as a kid and saw many of the best players play the game at Christmas. It’s always been an honor to play it.

“I’m obviously going to be very honest. I would prefer to sit at home on the couch all day with my family. But our number is being called, so we have to go out and perform and I’m looking forward to it.”

Tip-off for the Christmas tilt is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET.

Before that, the Lakers will play a road game against the Suns on Tuesday night. James’ team is currently 19-8 and fourth in the Western Conference.
