If LeBron James were to leave the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency in the 2026 offseason, he has already been linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, but there are two other mystery teams he could be interested in.
“Would he go somewhere else if he becomes a free agent?” said Brian Windhorst on Wednesday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show. “Would he go somewhere else? And would he go somewhere to make the most money, or would he go somewhere where he could take less money but where he would feel comfortable or feel like he could win? Chances are it would be his last year. He should definitely go into it with a good chance it would be his last year. So he needs to go to a place where he could feel comfortable if he could play a year. I think there are a few places are where it might make sense. Cleveland is one of them.”
“Heat?” Eisen asked.
“I’m not sure I put the Heat on the list,” Windhorst responded, suggesting a reunion with the Miami Heat isn’t a likely scenario compared to the Cavaliers.
‘Okay. Where else?’
“You know, depending on how things go, Golden State could be one of them, depending on where their team is,” Windhorst said. “And there are a few places I won’t say right now, but I’ll keep an eye on them.
“Is that the finger thing? Are we doing the finger thing?” Eisen asked, referring to Windhorst’s prediction that Rudy Gobert would be traded by the Utah Jazz in 2022.
“I just don’t need this in my life right now, honestly, with All-Star Weekend and all that,” Windhorst said. But let’s just say I don’t mean the fingers… Let’s put it this way: I have a team or two that I think he might consider joining. And I researched the concept. And I will continue to keep an eye on the concept.
“But I’m just saying that I think he would have some attractive options. In a one-off situation, if he felt comfortable playing, he would play for a salary that would suit another team.”
