Shoppers are encouraged to check their kitchen cabinets after a potato product was found to jeopardize people with allergies.
Supermarket Aldi has issued an urgent recall on inspired baby potatoes with herbs and butter with the pack size 385g.
This is because it contains milk that is not mentioned on the label – which is a possible risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance for milk.
The watchdog for food safety has told the supermarket to contact the relevant allergy organizations to inform their members.
Customers are asked to reduce the product to their Aldi store where they receive a full repayment.
In a statement, Aldi said: “We apologize that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your cooperation.”
Regulator The Food Standards Agency, which publishes the warnings, recovers when problems are noticed with food that may be harmful to the consumer.
They have warned those who bought the product and have an allergy or intolerance for milk or milk components, not to eat it.

This recall includes inspired baby potatoes with herbs and butter products with date codes up to and including 1 July 2025.
The supermarket has also issued a ‘point-of-sale knowledge that its customers’, who explains the recall and instructs shoppers about what they should do then.
“These notifications explain to customers why the product is recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product,” said the regulator.
Although cow’s milk allergy is less common in older children and adults, according to the NHS, this affects about one in 50 babies in the UK.
It came back hours after a popular Chinese chili sauce was recalled, after it turned out that it was not – which were given peanuts – which had a potentially fatal risk for allergy patients.
Laoganma Black Bean Chilli sauce, sold in 280 g pots, is a cult favorite among food lovers and is generally available in Asian supermarkets, independent grocers and online at retailers, including Yau Brothers, Longdan and Japan Center.
It is also stored by a few large supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s, where it occurs in the World Foods -Gangpad.
Distributor Fortune Foods LTD has issued a recall from Batchcode 18232 with a best-for-before date of 8 March 2026.

In a statement, the company said that the problem was ‘isolated’ and ‘not all units are affected’, but warned: “Persons with a peanut allergy can risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.”
It added: ‘We deeply regret this incident and take steps immediately to strengthen our labeling and quality control procedures to prevent a repetition.
Published in a warning last night, said the Food Standards Agency (FSA); ‘If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy to peanuts, don’t eat it.
“Instead, put it back to the store where it was purchased for a full repayment.”
