– A class action lawsuit filed five years ago claims the door panels on the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 are warped and removed from the frames.
The lawsuit also alleges that the 2014-2019 Dodge Charger and 2014-2019 Chrysler 300 door panels warp and cause problems with the panels, wiring and other components.
The original class action lawsuit was transferred to a Michigan court, where the judge recently ruled that only one claim remains.
Fiat Chrysler’s warped door panels would leave gaps between the door panels and the frames, creating openings for wiring and important electrical components. Through these holes, water can damage the electrical components of the airbags, door locks, heating and cooling systems, and anti-theft systems.
Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 owners claim they are embarrassed by warped door panels, a problem that would not have occurred if FCA had not used a polymer called “Belleville C10.”
Judge Matthew F. Leitman didn’t leave much of the class action lawsuit over the door panel warping alive.
FCA filed a motion for summary judgment and the judge denied express warranty claims and another claim alleging violations of the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act.
The only remaining claim concerns one plaintiff’s claim under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The warped door panel lawsuit against the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Southern Division): Dorthea Johnson, et al., v. FCA US LLC.
The plaintiffs are represented by Fink Bressack PLLC.
