Yedsit Hazlewood and Jorge Ruiz created some distance between themselves and the rest of the jockey colony during the current meeting, but none between each other. Hazlewood won six times over the race weekend, while Ruiz won five, and they are tied with 30 wins apiece at the current meeting, nine more than nearest pursuer Jevian Toledo (21 wins)… Martin Chuan won three last week, while JG Torrealba, Mychel Sanchez, Johan Rosado and Forest Boyce won two each… 16 riders won at least one race… Jaime Rodriguez leads all riders in wins at Maryland until so far (see below), while Hazlewood (64 wins) is first among riders currently running in Maryland, just ahead of Sheldon Russell and Toledo, with 61 each… Hazlewood leads all Maryland riders with 14.96 additional wins (comparing actual wins to those predicted by runners’ odds) for the year to date, with Ruiz (11.83) second and Raul Mena (7.28) third… It range of all riders is 14.96 to (-9.50)… Among the 25 riders with at least 100 starts in Maryland, Sheldon Russell leads in percentage of purses earned at 21.66%, with Hazlewood (18.65%) and Ruiz (17.86%) next…
