Late bogeys give Vani a share of the joint lead at Rambagh

Vani Kapoor cruised through the front nine in four under on day one of the Rambagh Golf Club leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf in Jaipur on Wednesday.

However, this year’s four-time winner not only ran out of birdies, but also dropped two shots to finish at 2-under 70 on the par-70 course, according to the WGAI.

It was still good enough to give Vani a share of the lead alongside Shagun Narain, looking for her first win, and the resurgent Jahanvi Bakshi, who is on her way back from a long break and injury.

Vani’s opening 30 was the best split at the front of the course, while Jahanvi and Vidhatri had nine scores of 2-under 34 each.

Bogey-free

Shagun went bogey-free that day while Jahanvi parred the first nine holes and then grabbed four shots, including three in a row between holes 13 and 15.

However, Jahnavi, whose sister Hitaashee plays on the Ladies European Tour, dropped a double bogey at the par-5 17^e which brought her to 68.

Four players, including amateur Riya Jadon, shot 1-under 69 for a tie for fourth place. The others were Jasmine Shekar, Nayanika Sanga and Shweta Mansingh.

Multiple winner Sneha Singh was tied for eighth alongside Vidhatri Urs and Kriti Chowhan at the par 70 level.

Things didn’t go so well for some of the other veteran stars like Ridhima Dilawari, Neha Tripathi and Amandeep Drall.

Ridhima and Neha shot 71s for a shared 11^e alongside Astha Madan, while Amandeep and Khushi Khanijau shared 14th place at 74s.
