Clevedon -Trainers Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan are about to launch some of their stable stars with some elevated goals in mind.
Talented Pacer Cold Chisel (Always B Miki) Almost a return to the circuit after the injury stopped his three -year -old campaign last year.
He was last ran in the Ashburton Flying Mile when he broke a hind leg.
“Horses with those chewing injuries don’t really think about it. It is only the tendon, suspensive problems they worry about when they come back from a long resignation,” said Phelan.
The now four -year -old had his first public outing a week ago on the Pukekohe training.
“He seems good, touching wood. He will only have a few trials and (will) need a few races to get it back in full fitness. He is a great strong whole. There is a race for him in the 22ND August, but he still has a little weight on him. ‘
Cold Chisel has won six of his nineteen starts and has an R76 rating.
“He is an open class horse and that’s how life is. He now has to stand in line against the big boys.”
Phelan says that the New Zealand cup is on the radar of the horse.
“It’s absolutely in our minds, but we won’t push him to get there because you would like to be in it. There is a four -year race (G1 Christian Cullen) ten days later.”
Phelan says Merlin (Art major), Duchess Megxit (Dear Lou) and rather the gambling rod (Bettor’s pleasure) are all at the same stage.

“Merlin will be during the tests at the end of August and Duchess Megxit and earlier the gamblers are on the same path. They go to the Spring Cup on the 19one September.”

Hertogin Megxit raced for the last time in Cambridge in April in the race by Betcha.
“It is the first good enchantment she has had for a while. She has kicked her ass a bit in the race and it took a bit out of her. She has always been a big strong mastermeulen and she probably just grown in her frame. We will probably just focus the races of the mares in this stage.”
Merlin goes to the New Zealand Cup.
“That is his target. He goes on the path that Barry’s horses have always gone. The Spring Cup, Holmes DG and probably Ashburton.”
Two well -bred two -year -olds, no more dreams (Bettor’s pleasure) and war party, (Bettor’s pleasure) would be with the tests on Pukekohe today, but the tests were canceled due to bad weather.
“So far they have been nice enough. They have to perform a bit. Hopefully they will qualify this week, have another test and then go to the races. They have shown enough skills so far, but you need enough to go into those big races.”
Jeremiah (Lazarus) and gnaw better (Bettor’s pleasure) are also close to the trial.

Better Knuckle Up has won six of his nineteen starts and campaigns in Australia early in the season.
“He is a horse that is on the edge to possibly go into the cup, but we focus more on the four -year race (Christian Cullen) and races such as the Kaikoura Cup.”
Jeremiah will follow the same path as a better knuckle.
“They will both stand in line at the end of August and have a few races for the Open Class Horses Race in the Spring Cup.“
Enormously talented trotter intended to be (Father Patrick) Is three weeks ago in the stable.

“He looks great. The enchantment he received was excellent and he came back from Angela Purdon who looks an absolute picture. He is big and bullish. As long as he can wear that weight for a long time in this campaign, he will have a pretty good campaign.”
The stable is enthusiastic about his prospects, with races such as the Ascent (November) and the New Zealand that Derby Draven on his goal magazine.
“He has the engine, the size and maybe he is a bit daunting for other horses. He has still learned to do a lot, but what he has done so far is excellent.”
In the meantime, talented marnieve that is your letheonethatiwant with retirement.
She won four of her nine starts as two years old, but as three years old she failed to recapture in her form of youth.
“She had many injuries, so she’s retired.”
