New Orleans Pelicans fans are used to disappointment, but it is a feeling that they would like to forget. Unfortunately that does not seem to happen quickly. The West is an absolute beast and the pelicans need a miracle to happen before they can compete for a title. New Orleans has a better chance to tear it off instead of winning a championship.
Lakers -Reporter Jovan Buha was asked on his podcast which team the First to blow it up This season, to which he responded, the heat or the raptors for the east, and for the west, he mentioned the pelicans, kings and sunbathing. In general he said he thinks it comes down to New Orleans, Phoenix or Miami, but in the end he chose one team.
Buha said he thinks that the pelicans ‘have a disaster scenario more often from all three of those teams,’ so if he had to give the ‘gold’ to one team, it would be New Orleans. He mentioned Phoenix as the second most likely, followed by Miami (although he was not 100 percent sure).
He does not think that the pelicans or the suns end in the top 10 of the conference, apart from a major injury (or injuries) to another team. Buha predicted that New Orleans will win 20-Liets Games next season, or, at its best, a song in the early 1930s.

If you hoped that next season would be better than the 21-61 record of this season, you may be right, but only with a few wins.
How far New Orleans can go is determined by Zion Williamson, who played only 30 games last season. He couldn’t stay Healthy, not even during the 2023-24 season, when he played 70 games during the regular season. He suffered a hamstring tribe in his very first “Postseason” match (the play-in tournament), missed the end of that match and the next.
Speculation about a Zion trade has been something (literally) for years, but many people think that this season could be when the pelicans finally decide to exchange him. Continuing him would certainly be the same as New Orleans who tear it down.
It does not help that the pelicans have traded an unprotected first round pick on the Hawks on the Tapnacht, which will be more favorable between New Orleans and Milwaukee. The worse the pelicans do, the higher the opportunities for the Hawks to obtain a top choice in next year’s design. Maybe they can get something valuable for Zion, especially if he has a good first half of the season. Even that may be too good to be true.
