Wiese has been closely associated with Lahore Qalandars over the past seven seasons, developing into much more than just a reliable overseas option. The Namibian all-rounder made a consistent contribution with both bat and ball and also became a core figure in the team’s leadership group, providing composure in pressure situations and providing guidance to younger players within the squad.
Despite his absence this season, the franchise made it clear that the door remains firmly open for Wiese’s return in future editions of the PSL. Lahore Qalandars expressed full respect for his decision to prioritize family, underscoring the values of trust and long-term relationships that have defined their journey.
“David has been an integral part of the Lahore Qalandars family and our leadership group for many years. His contributions extend far beyond on-field performance. We fully respect his decision to prioritize his family at this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the coming seasons,” said Sameen Rana, owner of Lahore Qalandars.
Wiese also shared an emotional message reflecting on his time with the franchise and the bond he shares with the team and its supporters.
“Being part of Lahore Qalandars has been more than just cricket, it has been a family. The brotherhood within the team, the positive and supportive environment and the passion that everyone brings every day makes this franchise truly special,” he said.
Wiese, affectionately known as “Murshad” by fans and teammates alike, added that the love and respect he has received over the years is something he deeply appreciates.
“I am proud to be part of a group that values teamwork, growth and the spirit of the game, and I look forward to returning and contributing to the team’s journey in the coming seasons,” he added.
