Lacroix, Mateta, Lerma: Crystal Palace injury latest for FPL Gameweek 27

Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix suffered an adductor injury during the UEFA Conference League match against Zrinjski on Thursday. and it looks like he will miss Sunday.

Chad Riad also suffered a cramp in that match, but Oliver Glasner said “everyone else looks fine”.

“No [update on Lacroix]. It seemed like yesterday, yes [he will miss out this weekend]but again, we will assess him further with training in the afternoon after the press conference. Then we’ll see. He had to be substituted because he had problems with his adductor. He already said it at half-time, so it doesn’t look good.” – Oliver Glasner on Maxence Lacroix

“It looks like we will have to change the back three again. It’s every game. This was the basis of everything we had, our back line, our togetherness. At the moment we are not that consistent in our defense.”

“We are struggling to keep clean sheets because we are making too many mistakes. This is what we definitely need to improve on, and the next chance is on Sunday, but again there will be three new players in the back three.” – Oliver Glasner

Elsewhere on the injury front Jean-Philippe Mateta (knee) will not be involved for the next two to three weeks Jefferson Lerma (hamstring) has been added to the injury list.

In the meantime, Eddie Nketiah (hamstring) has had a setback and will be “out for a few more weeks”.

Cheick Doucoure (knee) was involved in the training on Wednesdayalthough it’s not clear how close he is to a comeback. He was sidelined for 12 months and was not involved on Thursday evening.

As for Glasner himself, reports suggest his term could end prematurely. When asked about those rumors, the Palace boss didn’t exactly put them to bed.

“Right now, I’m just not good enough to replace the players we sold. I’m just not good enough to integrate the new players in a way that allows us to play the same way we do. I’m not good enough to handle the schedule we had.”

“On the other hand, I think I was good enough to play the best season ever, win two trophies and also look back at 32 points after 26 games. I looked back because I like to look back, in the last ten years Crystal Palace have been better twice. One was our season last year and the other was in 2021. Never before has it been more or less between 25 and 29 points all the time.”

‘Let’s see [if I can be good enough to lead the club till the end of the season]. I have always said – and this was not the first press conference where I could easily repeat myself – as a manager you are always dependent on your players. As always, they will get all the support, and then we will see.”

“Let’s see what the future brings. You never know.” – Oliver Glasner on whether he wants to be manager until the end of the season

“Yes, I feel that way, yes.” – Oliver Glasner on whether he still has the “drive” to be manager until the end of the season
