But Mbappe understands that his personal songs are not enough to justify winning the Golden Ball after Los Blancos had ended the season without a big trophy.

“To win it, you have to win things,” said Mbappe CBS Sport After the 2-1 Champions League victory of Madrid on Marseille on Tuesday evening. “I have to help my club win trophies, and then we will see.”

Mbappe revealed that he hopes to see his France teammate and Paris Saint-Germain Winger Ousmane Dembele awarded the world’s best player.

“I will be happy if Dembele wins because he is my friend, and I supported him from the start. I will watch it on TV and hope he will win,” said Mbappe.

After a stunning year with PSG, Dembele came to the fore as the Ballon d’Or favorite at football bets, scored 35 goals and the provision of 16 assists while the French champions completed a historic Treble – Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the UEFA Champions League.

While Barcelona Duo Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are considered close contenders, Dembele’s role in PSG’s long -awaited European triumph has made him the leader.

The only blemish came in the final of the Club World Cup of December, where Chelsea defeated the Parisians 3-0.

Real Madrid Ballon d’Or Boycott

The absence of Mbappe adds fuel to speculation that Real Madrid could expand their balloon d’Or Boycot.

Last year did not attend Madrid player De Ceremony after the club thought Vinicius Junior was overlooked unfairly, with Rodri van Manchester City eventually took the prize.

The Ballon d’Or remains the only large individual honor that is missing in the glittering CV of Mbappe, although he says he is already focusing on the 2026 edition.

Mbappe Eyes 2026 Ballon d’Or

Despite missing this year, Mbappe started the 2025-26 campaign in blister-shaped form. He scored six goals in five performances in La Liga and the Champions League, which shot Real Madrid to a perfect start.

With more silverware on the line, Mbappe knows that success with Madrid could finally put him in pole position for the Ballon d’Or next year.

“Winning trophies is the only way,” he said.

Madrid returns to action on Saturday with a home collision against Espanyol, while Mbappe is looking forward to keeping his score stripe alive.
