Munna Singh, a constable in the Madhya Pradesh Police, was suspended in 2012 for alleged negligence during election duty. The case, which remained unsolved for thirteen years, put the family under financial pressure. During this period, Kranti, who hailed from the village of Ghuwara, became one of India’s most promising pace bowlers. After India’s World Cup win on home soil, CM Mohan Yadav Kranti publicly assured that her father’s service would be reinstated at a felicitation ceremony.
Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang confirmed that Munna Singh has been reinstated on the directions of the Chief Minister, with the police headquarters issuing formal orders. Although the reinstatement is on a ‘no work, no pay’ basis, this means that Munna Singh will not receive any salary arrears for the years between 2012 and January 2026.
Growing up, Kranti learned to play tempo bowling at a ground near her home, and was often allowed to play alone when the boys weren’t enough. Her speed and athleticism caught the attention of coach Rajiv Bilthre, who helped her refine her skills and guided her development into a true all-rounder.
Kranti made her senior debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2023-24 season and quickly rose up the rankings. She made her white-ball debut for India last year, and her brilliance led to her World Cup selection. In the World Cup, she finished as India’s third highest wicket-taker, with nine scalps in eight innings. To date, she has featured in 15 WODIs and four WT20Is, taking 23 and two wickets respectively.
