Posts earlier this week via The team claimed Liverpool had made a new contract offer to Konate’s representatives and were confident of reaching an agreement.
But speaking to journalists while on duty with the France national team, the centre-back insisted: “I don’t know where that comes from.”
What did Konate say about the new Liverpool contract?
“I’ve seen a lot of things in the press lately, like Liverpool have made me a new offer,” he said Foot market.
“I don’t know where that comes from.
“My agents are still in discussions with Liverpool; I hope my decision will be made very soon so I can announce it.”
This isn’t the first time Konate has dismissed speculation about his future. Late last season, he told reporters that reports that he had turned down an offer were “completely fake.”
“I didn’t even ask for anything from the club,” he explained.

“They made me an offer and I answered them with something, that’s it. The rest, that I want to wait until the end [of my contract and leave on a free]it’s all completely fake.
“In November [it was claimed] I’m very close to signing the deal. I was like ‘ah, they have more information than me’ because it wasn’t true at the time and that’s why I was a little bit angry.
“I knew at some point people would think I didn’t want to sign the contract, but I was never close to signing it. We’ll see what happens.”
Will Konate sign a new contract?

That Konate downplayed similar claims from a year ago and that the landscape seemingly hasn’t changed is certainly not a promising sign.
But Liverpool’s continued contact with the defender camp suggests they have not closed down, despite reports of interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
Konate’s claim that he will communicate his decision “very soon” could of course refer to the fact that he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a club abroad from January 1.
Liverpool supporters can simply hope for clarity at this stage, as if the number five has struggled with his form of late. He remains a first-choice starter and if he doesn’t commit, plenty of replacements will be needed.
Earlier on Saturday This is Anfield covered up reports of Liverpool’s inability to sign 16-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back Deinner Ordonez, who has now closed a deal elsewhere.
