Knicks’ OG Anunoby feels ‘fine’ after ankle injury against Celtics

OG Anunoby took part in practice on Saturday after coming out of the fourth quarter win over the Celtics.

The two-time forward replied: “I feel good” and backed up what coach Mike Brown had said after the game that his problem was cramp and not the ankle issue that sidelined him late in the preseason.

Anunoby scored 10 points in 29 minutes on Friday night, after scoring a team-high 24 in a season-opening win over the Cavaliers two nights earlier.

“That’s what the good teams are like,” Anunoby said after training. “You can’t win with one person. The whole team is capable, especially in our team there are a lot of guys who are capable. So depending on how the game goes or how we defend, it could be anyone’s night.”

“We’re 2-0 and we’re just going to get better and better as the year goes on. That’s our main goal, just to keep progressing. … So I think it’s really good. Everybody can play, everybody has talent in the NBA. So we have a lot of guys that can play on the team, and it’s just being ready when your number is called and producing to help the team win.”

Brown said Josh Hart emerged from his season debut physically OK on Friday after sitting out several weeks due to back spasms.

Brown had labeled Hart “a monster” after he grabbed 14 rebounds – including six on the offensive glass – in 19 minutes off the bench.

“Monster game. Monster game,” Brown repeated Saturday. “His effort was incredible, especially on the glass. Between three guys we had fifteen offensive rebounds, if you talk about KAT [Karl-Anthony Towns]Jos and [Guerschon] Yabusele. Josh played 19 minutes and had six. He was incredible.”

Oft-injured center Mitchell Robinson (ankle), who Brown says is “still working on load management and he’s still working on ramping up,” has been ruled out again against the Heat. Towns (quad) and Miles McBride (personal) are listed as doubtful, while Hart is probable.
