KLIA starts vehicle access management system Trial-10 minutes drop-off/pick-up time, TNG/CC for access to lane strips-paultan.org

From 1 September, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) started a test run of its new vehicle Access Management System (VAMS), which says it is aimed at improving the traffic flow of KERBSIDE and Terminal access.

According to Malaysia Airport Holdings (Mahb), the system will undergo tasting at terminal 1’s level 5 (before departure) and level 3 (before arrival pick-ups) until November 30. The VAMs are also tested on Terminal 2 from 15 September to 30 November.

The airport operator explained that the system, which introduces timed access and exit through barrier ports, is aimed at reducing congestion on the KERBSide due to unauthorized or extensive stops of vehicles.

Under the system, access to the drop-off and pick-up avenues requires the use of touch ‘n go (with a minimum of RM30 on it) or a credit card, and vehicles receive a 10-minute respite period for drop-offs and pick-ups on arrival, with a fine that is used on vehicles that cross the grace period.

During the test phase, MaHB said that no fine costs will apply, because the focus continues to observe traffic patterns and the behavior of the director. The observations will help determine the optimum decorative period and fine allowance structure for complete implementation.

Although the system is expected to improve lane congestion in these areas, you can expect that the structure will inevitably happen in the neighborhood, in the case of pick-ups. With the latter, the idea should be to coordinate in advance with passengers and to wait for parking garages or areas without the traffic being blocked elsewhere.
