Aviation train service at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be suspended from 9pm to 7am daily for inspection and repair work, it said Free Malaysia today.
The overnight closure of the aviation train service is part of a comprehensive technical plan aimed at resolving issues that have affected the airport train service since it resumed service, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) managing director Izani Ghani.
“During the closure, full bus services will be deployed to transport passengers between the main terminal and the satellite building. We expect this work to last approximately four weeks or a month, until December 15,” he said.
The revised closing times for the plane train follow the initial announcement for overnight inspection and repair work, which was previously announced from 12:00 noon to 5:00 am.
According to FMTDeputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah previously said that 19 minor incidents involving the plane train had been recorded between July 2 and September 30, involving, among other things, the signaling system, as well as cases of passengers attempting to manually open the train doors.
The aerotrain system provider could be fined up to RM190,000 for every month it fails to ensure trains are running at optimal levels, the deputy transport minister said.
The plane train in its current form was returned to service in July this year, after being suspended as a precaution in March 2023 following a major disruption. Following a spate of disruptions since its return in July 2025, the Ministry of Transport ordered Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) in August to conduct continuous monitoring and maintenance of the aircraft train.
